Together with the lions club, Sarawak society for the blind Miri branch and the Miri orthodox Buddhist Association, eye clinic Miri Hospital accomplished the second task of the cataract camp following the eye screening done on 28th December 2008 at the Miri Orthodox Buddhist association near bulatan park.
Cases done:
13 phacoemulsification surgeries done with 12 foldable sensar Intraocular lens and 1 Subsidi intraocular lens implanted. All were subsidized by the Sarawak society for the Blind. There were 7 patients turned up for pterygium surgery.
Surgery started at 8.30am. Dr Dennis’s flight landed in Labuan instead due to bad weather but managed to make it to OT 3 at 12 noon. (Dr Dennis Kong is the chairman for the prevention of Blindness committee in the Sarawak society for the Blind)
There was 1 PC rent during the whole surgery. There was uneventful pterygium surgery with graft. Morning Breakfast and lunch were provided during the campaign courtesy from the Society for the blind Miri Branch.

Post operative
All patients turned up for the day one eye dressing. Visions of all patients were markedly improved. Patients were discharged happily with eye drops and pieces of post operative advices.
They will be due for review again in a week’s time in eye clinic.
